Texas A&M University is an institution of public research that is located in Texas in the United States. It is the only university in Texas that has been designated as a land, sea, and space grant institution. It was also inducted as a member of the Association of American Universities in 2001. Since the year 1948, it has been serving as the founding member of the Texas A&M University System, which is among the nation's 10 largest endowments. Texas A&M University was recognized as one among the top 20 institutions of research by the National Science Foundation in 2009. Even The Wall Street Journal has ranked it second nationally in terms of helping students get a job in key career professions.

Spread over an area of 5,200 acres, the main campus of Texas A&M University is considered to be one among the largest in the United States. Its main campus situated in College Station which is home to more than 64,000 plus students. The university offers more than 133 undergraduate degree programs, 92 doctoral degree programs, 175 master's degree programs, and 5 first-professional degrees as options for study to the students.

Texas A&M University is also home to 1100 plus student organizations that have been recognized officially. It boasts of a distinguished faculty comprised of winners of Wolf Price, National Medal of Science, Noble Prize, 3500 plus other teachers and researchers. Almost 90 percent of the faculty hold doctoral degrees or terminal degrees in their field and 330 hold endowed professorships or chairs. Twenty-two faculty are members of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, or Institute of Medicine. With an enlistment of 68,625 students in the 2017 Fall semester, Texas A&M University became the 2nd largest public American university. In enrollment of National Merit Scholars, the university has been consistently ranked among the top 10 public universities each year.

With the support of over 5,00,200 alumni, Texas A&M University has one of the largest American networks of alumni groups. There are several attendees of the university who have attained local, national, and even international prominence. Current United States Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry; NASA astronaut, Steven Swanson; first U.S. transgender judge, Phyllis Frye and the father of Hollywood, Charles E. Toberman are some of the notable members of the university's alumni.
